Need Help Engineering Rap

Hi,

Today is only my second day ever working with sound equipment. I have converted one of my rooms into a booth for recording vocals, namely Rap. I currently have a Behring x1204USB connected to my laptop Running Audacity (which I have no idea how to use really... but I'll get to that in a second). To my Mixer is connected an AudioTechnica Mic with a popscreen in a room that has been foamed for soundproof. The room does not echo, so the sound coming out of my laptop sounds VERY crisp and VERY clean.

My problem is that I need a program that will recognize my Behringer Mixer as the input deciver (on Windows 7), and that will allow me to produce my own beats (on the computer).

I need some instructions on how to properly put together some instrumentals that I currently have with some vocals that I will record to them.

I also need some tutorials or instructions on how to produce Hip-Hop/Rap beats.

I understand that this is not something I will learn over night. I am very dedicated and would appreciate any and all help that I can get.

Thanks.

Sasquatch

OH BOY!
2 day with recording and producing man you've got a lot to learn.
first thing first - as far as DAW goes (that means the program you're going to use), there are a lot of them out there you can look in to. if you really want to use you beringher interface (USB) Q-base, logic, nuendo - are all valid choises that would work with it, but there are many more that you could use, make some reaserch to find the best one for you. you might want to start by looking up some youtube clips and looking in magazines for good idea about how to start producing and mixing your own stuff, but its not gonna come over night.
good luck
ps ask more Q when you get started and we'll try to help
