mix advice
Hey...
That song is very reminiscent of Bauhaus' "Bela Lugosi is Dead..."
Anyway, first impression is that you need a lot more definition with the instruments. The guitars are audible, but could use some "sweetening" up. The drums sound VERY distant, so much so that they are not blending with everything else. ANd you have a very dry vocal up front which stands out quite a bit from the rest of the music, almost giving the impression that you are singing on top of a 2-track, rather than being part of the musical fabric.
Just out of curiousity, how were the drums recorded (individually, # of mics, etc...)?
Also, you are right in that the vocals could use some treatment. i think with this style, they would benefit from some interesting delays, and perhaps some kind of plate-style reverb, although that is really a matter of taste.
Ultimately, the mix is going to have to be something that really captures your artistic vision, but also sounds big enough to be able to compete with other music out there.
How was the overall project recorded (Logic, Protools, tape....)?
Hope this helps.
