Interface vs Control&Interface Combo vs HDMixer?

Ok so currently I have a Line 6 UX2, just bought it like 2 years ago just to record some of my own stuff, to keep ideas down. But about a year ago I recorded my own album, but I only used the freeware Krystal. I used every bit of good I could find out of the UX2, Gearbox, and Krystal to mix my album. But I am getting ready to move out, and I am in real need of new equipment. I am getting a new laptop pretty soon, prob just a PC with like 3gb Mem, Decent HD, 2.2+ Proc, Firewire, HMDI, blah blah blah.

So I was wondering what I should get to record with? I like the versatility of just a normal hd mixer, but I want to know if I would be able to hook it up to my comp and mix with and record from it you know?

Also I like interfaces but I dont like how I cannot control it very well manually, more electronically, you know, I kind of like the M-Audio FireWire 410 So I could use ProTools if I wanted you know?

Or, which is probably my favorite, but pricey, is the Combo, kind of like TASCAM FW-1082? I was also saw the Alesis iO/26 which looks pretty good, I just read a few bad reviews? What would you guys suggest?

Also I really want to be able to record live drums, and track each piece you know? So I would like something with more mic inputs, thats why I kind of liked the Alesis iO/26? So if you guys could help me out with what I should pick, I would be forever gratefull?

Also I need something that is going to work with different programs you know, because I recieved Cubase SX3 Last year when I was recording my album, but I could never get it to work with the UX2 correctly. I also have an MAudio Delta Sound card, which has not turned out to what I hoped.

Thanks, Abe
