Recording format and gear.

Hello all, I have recently started making my project studio and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what i should get for a mixer I'm looking for something that has at least 16 channels and the ability to hook up to an AD/DA converter for recording from the mixers preamp into cubase or protools. Something like the digi002 to record 8 tracks individually into protools for example. Any ideas on mixers and computer software let me know.
