RODE NT1A HELP

Hello. I just recently purchased a Rode NT1-A microphone and was wondering what kind of pre-amp you guys would suggest I buy. I've heard different opinions (some saying Behringer stuff is both good and bad, some saying to purchase Yamaha, etc).

As of now I am looking for an affordable but decent pre-amp (later I will buy a more expensive and higher quality one once I save up Razz), but for now I'm looking for something decent but does the job. For price range I'm looking to spend from around 50-100 dollars. I know this isn't much, but like I said, I'm just looking for something decent right now.

For those of you who do have a Rode NT1-A Mic, what pre-amp do you use?

Also, what soundcard would you guys suggest for about the same price range (50-100)? I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks!

- Ron

Cool! How is that working out for you? Any problems with it? Sound good?

Also, what kind of soundcard are you using?

It' fantastic!

I couldn't be happier

I use the default soundcard that I got with my macbook but it still sounds good

My only worry is that since the xenyx 802 doesn't have a power on/off switch you have to simply unplug the adapter chord for it to power off. I don't want to damage my mic, so I'm tryin to figure out whether the best way to turn it off properly is by

a) disconnecting the mic and THEN turning off the mixer

or (most likely)

b) turning off the mixer by disconnecting the power supply and then disconnecting the mic

But it sounds really good, and I love how "quiet" it is in terms of not picking up feedback or having any unwanted noise in the background.

I own that mic and an SM 57 and couldn't be happier considering I'm just a beginner to recording

Affordable Pre for NT1A

That mic is a good choice. I've heard a lot of good things about the ART Tube MP. It has a lot of nice features for the price. A lot of people swear by these pre's. It's pretty much got everything you need & then some for the price.
