Well, I would suggest getting actual studio monitors. Bose are very nice speakers for a stereo, but by nature they do just that.. excellent (howbeit overpriced) speakers geared toward final listening. Studio monitors however are geared toward a flat response... Some vocalists and musicians actually do not want to hear "flat", while a sound engineer does.
If you want to have a decent set of monitors, and are willing and able to spend the cash, I recommend Tannoy, but there are good lower priced ones too, Hosa IMO has breached the gap between budget and quality.
