XLR or TRS???

Hey...I want to connect from my tube pre-amp to my MobilePre. Should I use XLR or TRS (from out tube pre to in mobilepre)?

I don't know what boxes you have but the protocal you mention is identical. The point here is that XLR and TRS (if all are utilised) amount to the same thing, three connections = balanced line.

If the input has a balanced input and the output has a balanced output you should always use it in that configuration. The connectors themselves are immaterial, you can connect an XLR to a TRS as long as ALL three lines are used it is balanced.

The standard is:

Pin1 = ground
Pin2 = hot +
Pin3 = cold -
