That's a bit of a huge question, and can't be answered simply.
Depends what you want to record with it and how good a quality you need. Perhaps you could be a little more specific?

OK... that doesn't help much.
What are some of the main things you want to record?
instruments? vocals?
also, what kind of budget are you looking at?
"What kind of mic?" is probably the most common question people have when they're getting started, but it's the hardest to answer because there are soooo many to choose from.
