Fretless bass effect/emulator question

I am using a Macbook Pro, Core Duo @ 2 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, with Mac OS 10.4.11, first off.

I am interested in plugging my fretted electric bass into my computer and using Logic Studio to make it sound like a fretless electric bass. I wanted to get suggestions for the optimal way to do this. I'm not too concerned with slides being seamless, just so long as they are not obvious.

I have explored using the amp modelers and effects that come with Logic, along with tweaking the EQ, and in conjunction with a slight phaser effect. However, this does not quite get me the effect I would I like, as I can't seem to produce the swells on every note that fretless basses are known for.

This doesn't fit in this category, but it is related: Is it possible for me to use a sampled library (like the East West QL Bass library) and tie that in with my bass, so that my DAW can process my incoming notes and use the sampled sounds from the instrument library instead of/in conjunction with the bass's regular sound?

Thanks for any help you might give!!
