Hey, yea this is a pretty outdated reply... maybe you found out what you needed to know or not... But anyways here it goes:
Since your running cubase LE, do you use Rewire to connect it to fruityloops? Rewire if you havent used it b4 lets you connect multiple programs. Look it up in the Cubase manual to see how to activate it. Basically you will be able to play back both your vokals and your beat at the same time without having to convert the beat into an audio file. This will help when you mix the whole song.
I may be a bit traditional when it comes to mixing but this is how i edit rap songs.
Rap is all about vocals. the music comes right after. always good to know that cuz in the mix thats what your aiming for. If your running reWire, while the track is playing, you can EQ, compress, etc... the whole song to fit the vocal. Since your vox is the primary concern in this kind of genre, everything else needs to run smoothly with it. Nowadays people just make beats and try to get the vox to match the song, which to me is more harder then just mixing your whole beat to the vox. With my method i find everything fits together better.
After you have a good rough mix of the beat and the vox, work on the vox itself. If you want a vocal to sound more smoother, add some reverb on it. That goes well with certain kinds of rap. If you want a more thicker sounding vox, add a 2nd take as well. basically rap the same verse again and use it to double up the main vox. This should give you that beefy vox. Also a another take with you just emphasising the last couple words on each line wouldnt hurt too.
Once u got the vox sounding as great as you possibly can, bring up the beat to match it. Youll prolly need to mix it some more to sound better with the new vox mix u just did.
By doing it like this, i find that not only do the vox sound great, but the beat does too. The whole song sounds smoother in the frequency spectrum and the vox are nice and clear.
hope this helps you out, n yes it is pretty long. just want u to get the best sounding track you can, ez
