Newbie Question

Hi Everyone! I am new to this forum and was hoping for some
guidance from someone who is familiar with the Behringer 9000
Eurodesk mixer and the M-Audio Delta 1010 sound card. I was
looking for the best way to hook the two up which then goes in to
a PC. The Delta 1010 is the rack mount type.

I want to run the instruments in to the mixer and out of the mixer
to the sound card. There are 8 subgroups on the mixer and 8 inputs on
the sound card. The thing is that there are dual outputs for each sub-group
which leads me to think that I need a Y cable with (2) male 1/4" to one
female 1/4" TRS.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks icon_wink.gif

out of curiosity - why do you want to do this?

I sometimes use a mixing desk hooked up to my firepod to record gigs dry but have fx in the monitors.... For this I take a line out of the desk's channel inserts........

Re the sub-groups...

If, for example, you are micing up a drum kit, you would use several mics variously panned... Once you've balanced the drum mics' volumes on individual channels you can patch all of these channels to one sub-group.. Thus you can control the overall volume of the drum mics with one fader...
The stereo output of the sub-group will let you record your drums with a faithful stereo picture....

The sub-group outs are TS - your 1010 inputs are also TS but the single end of a Y chord is TRS - so it's incompatible....

If you don't use panning on the channels you patch to a subgroup you can take a mono line out of either side of the subgroup output and link that up to your 1010 - check that the channel on the 1010 can accept a line level signal before you plug-in (for example, the first two channels of the firepod can't take a line level signal)....

Hope this sheds some light

Hi Nelly,
You asked why I would want to do that. I am basically looking for the best way to hook up the 9000 mixer and the 1010 card. I am totally new at this and have read before in other forums of similar hookups. Could you
explain how you would hook this setup together if you had it? Thanks for your time.

Tony
