Electricity, grounding, buzz, pop

I am experiencing noise and electrical issues within my studio equipment. I do not have much tech/electrician knowledge, but I think what I'm dealing with is a grounding problem.

Things that may occur are:
-speakers pop/crackle from static charges
-direct guitar/bass signals acquire a "buzz"
-lighting dimmers causing certain buzz/hums in the signal path

I live in a single house within an average neighborhood. A dedicated 20amp circuit serves power to a moderately large home studio. (G4, 2 near field monitor power amps, 5-10 outboard devices, etc)

Is there someone with the electrical knowledge who can explain what could be going wrong to cause these symptoms? Or perhaps point me to some information regarding grounding musical equipment and/or electrical grounding in a residential areas.

I would like to know, so for my future room I know if i need to install my own ground rod thats dedicated to my studio. Do studios do that?

Thank you for anything. icon_smile.gif
