Recording Bass Guitar
I'm looking into recording some solo bass stuff but I'm not too sure what all to buy.
Would my best bet be to buy a mixer and a DI box?

Not sure what you mean by "Solo Bass" but genraly speaking you can get excelant results using a DI Box If you are recording on to a computer and twiking the sound with a decent amp sim (guitar rig or amplitube would do the trick) if your sound card is of the more "pro" varity ( Mbox, Saffire etc) you can skip the DI box as well, if you are recording analouge to a 4 track machine lets say, then a DI Box is your safest bet
