 analog mixer with firewire out and audio interface together

Hello,
I wonder how new analog mixers with firewire out might get synchronized with audio interfaces so that I can make use of more inputs?I know there is an option of using two audio interfaces, but i wonder if there are stability issues. I read worldclock sync is needed. For instance, mackie 1620 with fireface 800?
