Should I upgrade my studio ?

Hi everyone, I'm a new member to this forum, if i'm doing anything wrong, please let me know.

I've had a home/project studio for several years now, everywhere I look nowadays, everyone is talking about keeping the audio in the digital domain.

Should I be looking to loose my soundcraft analogue desk (hooked up to 2X m-audio delta 1010's )and look into the world of control surfaces, allowing me to keep everything within the pc. I've got loads of outboard which I really like, but are they really any better than software plugins, or should I keep as I am, I'm a sucker for tweaking the eq and flying the faders, but i'm sure i must be loosing quality going from analogue (from the desk) to digital (PC) then back to analogue (to the desk) to mix, before i get a master mix down.

There doesn't seem to be much help out there in the big wide world for making this potentially life changing move !!

Cheers Jazzman001_uk

Major pros of digital:
It's cheap.
It's easy.

If you got analog gear and you like to use it, awesome.
There's alot of us that wish we could afford more analog gear.
In many cases analog still has better quality. It sounds more natural.
If you go analog-to-digital-back to analog-then digital again, you need to have some darn good A/D/A converters to keep quality at an acceptable level.

Thanks for that Uncle -Jerr, I thought a reply might be similar to that, I was just concerned about the a-d d-a a-d, im sure i must lose quality, maybe i'll look at swapping out the delta 1010's for something a bit more suitable.

There's nothing better than a big analogue desk with loads of knobs and faders !!!!

Thanks again for your reply
