I am very new to PC recording or any music recording whatsoever. I am a musician that's very passionate about my music, and I want to lay some of it down and record some demos. I recently downloaded cakewalk home studio and have no idea where to start. If anyone can tell me what the best recording and mixing software is for a rock band and what kind of equipment I need to record quality music, I'd really appreciate it. Any other tips about PC recording would be wonderful. Thanks.

You will need some sort of interface to record your band to your PC... You'll probably want something with multitrack capabilities so have a look for presonus, MOTU, digidesign (or USB audio interface or firewire audio interface) on the net.......... You can get firewire mixers as well (Mackie, alesis) ........... MOst hardware will come with a LE version of a leading 'brand' of software such as cubase or pro tools....

The thing to do is to think about what you want/need to do and do some browsing...........
