Recording the acoustic guitar.
What would you recommend to record the acoustic guitar with? (A very beautiful sounding one. My friend had it custom made for 3000 dollars. It sounds amazing, but anyway). I've been using 2 sm57's, but I know there is a better way. I've been recording probably 7 or 8 people using this method, but I'm looking for something a little better.

condensers and ribbons
My acoustic is nowhere near worth that much, but a pair of matched condensers does the trick for me. Sometimes I put a regular dynamic instrument mic near the soundhole.

I've used an AT Pro 37R right over the sound hole (about 8 inches) and a 1" condenser between the sound hole and frets (about the same distance)
Another 1" condenser between 18 to 24 inches out into the room for blended ambiance.
Mix the 3 tracks to desired taste and Viola...your there.
