Looking for crash test dummies.

been through a few massive revelations lately.. Basically i have been developing my mixing mastering technique for a fair number of years now.

i have finally come to a point (well very close now) were i can say i have an adaptive and effective mastering technique that I believe can stand up to any major studio with the same results as any of the majors.

Just to clear up my point earlier I meant to limit to 0.3 as you did say there.

in RMS like i said in my rant there -17 -16 average is really enough.

One could push to -15 maybe intense -14 at climax points of the piece.

I call my technique "adaptive floor theory" and I am keen as mustard to try it on any work any one wants to have mastered.

it involves digital and analogue equipment.

I will master anyone’s work for practice - as I just do this for my self

As long as the mix is acceptable.

To find out what an acceptable mix is ask me if you’re interested.
If anyone wants their work pushed harder than (RMS) -14 continually don’t bother giving me a mix.

However if you want to hear what the potential of a good mix can be just give me a yell..
I work 24/7 on my own work so it would be on a (when I can basis).

Thanx guys.

So what does the technique consist of?

Very likely has been done before, maybe you are new to it.

Very likely you are correct.

It consists of my 1000s of man hours working to finally refine it.

oh and nearly going crazy , actually scratch that , going crazy for a period.

but I’m still working and I believe I have made further breakthroughs.

I’m sure it has been done before I see typically similar results when I analyse Sony productions and some other large ones. It’s just they push further. I can but don’t.

some others that pass for mastering are terrible.

I'd like to talk about the case for the reasonable level existence as before i.e -4 peak and -14 rms.

in the end it will be market driven because of "continuation of Quality" basically now Audio Art is being played on such a wide number of devices and formats the end destination is constantly shifting.

Mini ipod and mp3 speakers - good medium and bad quality headphones , laptop speakers , portable device speakers , mobile telephone speakers the list goes on.

so the need absolutely arises where a consistent (other than Red book) standard need to be achieved to ensure quality across such a broad range of end products and thus largely eliminating ear fatigue and increasing sales of all digital distribution.
(and not producing a generation of deaf people)

in other words it's just going to make market sense it's just that the Dinosaurs haven't figured it out.

i'm sure many of you Obviously know this but how many of us practice it?

this is a real truthful example of how i came to understand the dynamics of this effect after hearing people on this site and others state the case.

One of My favourite albums is Gary Numan Tubeway Army - Dance.
Before i knew as much as now, i noticed i always wanted to re listen to that album and upon listening again and again I was finding i was always hear a new sound something different.

then I analysed it it sits at about -17 -16 -15 Rms it really is such a great feeling to understand that.

how strange that i always wanted to hear it again? now i know.

send me a mix. and you can tell me how i'm progressing.

just checked out your site it looks cool

you list many of those things there in the services i was just talking about.

good to see you probably use a similar theory , i'm happy because I’m just one person i figured it out all my lonesome.

Well with a little help

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

maybe i'll send some stuff for you to master for me. icon_question.gif

Sure, but I would like to hear about the technique(s) that you're using. I'm thinking that it's along the lines of parallel compression? Basic philosophy is to raise the average level of the music and leave the transients intact?

If you like, feel free to use the contact page on our site to discuss offline.

Best,
