HOW TO MAKE THE JOHN FELDMANN DRUM SOUND???

HOW TO MAKE THE JOHN FELDMANN DRUM SOUND???

Hi!
I just started with Pro-Tools, I'm kinda new at mixing real drums so I really need some advice how to make the drumsound I want...

Right now I'm mixing a rock band here from sweden... And they want the John Feldmann sound(Story Of The Year's Page avenue album, The Used's in love and death album, City sleeps album hotel and so on) How do I start, from step one til the last? Please give me some plugins, and some settings. i have almost all Bomb Factory, focusrite and Waves plugins...

these are the tracks:
mono
1. Kick
2. Snare
3. Snare Under
4. Tom
5. Tom floor
stereo
6. OH
7. Ambience

Me myself really like John Feldmann's drum sound... but Tom Lord Alge is also someone I admire... So somewhere between these guys is where I would like to have my own personal sound... But these guys wanted a Feldmann...

I would really appriciate all help I could get... really... thanx wouldn't be enough...

//chris, sweden

John Feldmann

Hey man ive been a huge fan of Johns sounds and techniques for a long time now as well....hes probly the reason why i got into audio engineering! ive been an engineer for a couple of years only. i wish i could make drums sound the way john does but the again we have to remember he uses totally different preamps and some mics that we might not use to it would be impossible to recreate the same sound but i did find a quote from him that might help u a lil bit: "Kick drums are normally boosted around 50hz, cut anywhere from 160 - 250 - moderate bandwidth, shelf from 5khz, and a parametric EQ @ around 4khz, moderate bandwidth.High-passing the bass @ 70hz keeps it away from the kick’s core low-end frequency of 50hz. I also high-pass guitars at around 130hz, as this helps keep the guitars away from the bass.Don’t compress kick drum unless urgent and Use the L1 limiter in Pro Tools for most of the real squashing" i know it only talks about the kick drum but its a quote he said a long time ago i couldnt even find anymore online and i wish hed give tips about the snare sounds bc thats what i love the most about his drum production techniques! i hope it helped a lilttle bit please try it and let me know how it went because i havent been able to try it since none of the bands i record really like that sound since im in south america! and if u want more info look online bc hes been interviewed on a lot of audio websites where he gives a few other tips that might be helpful to u!
