Hey all

I bought a new mic the other day, just a temporary one so nothing special. I cant seem to get it to work properly though the mic i have right now is old and a bit scratchy but still works a little, my new one however only makes this sound...

Does anyone have any idea why and how to fix it
Im using windows XP on a Dell laptop.

What kind of mike is it? (condensor, dynamic, ribbon) What does it take for a cable?

This is definitely a short in circuitry, like you are trying to send XLR to 1/4 inch TS instead of TRS. OR your cable is shorted. OR you wire it wrong....

EDIT: Since you are using a laptop, what kind of input are you plugging it into?

Give a type of mike, hardware setup etc.. we are not mind readers, and do not know how to fix a problem with such a vague question.
