Is my Microphone broken?
Hi
I have a Behringer Eurorack UB502 mini mixer, that has a Mic input.
I bought a RODE NT1 microphone a while ago but haven't used it yet.
I plugged it into the mixer and nothing comes out, it is a condenser mic.
All my other ribbon mic's work fine.
Do I need a different type of mic pre amp or could the item be faulty.
Any help from you Guru's would be fabulous.
Best wishes
Splimwad.

I just checked, and the 502 does not have phantom power. Most condensor mikes (with the exception of tube ones that have their own power supply) need phantom power to operate.
Either get a preamp, or a phantom power supply, or a better board.

Fantastic, thanks for the response.
Could you possibly recommend an amp with phantom power.
I only have a budget of about £50.
many thanks indeed.

hehe, with that budget the only thing I can think of is the Euroback 802.
Or look around for a stand alone microphone pre-amp with phantom power.
