Active/Passive

I am currently setting up a secondary (simple) studio and am looking at cheap monitoring as i dont have the money to spend on expensive equipment (my main studio has this)
i have a 500W power amp lying around (brand new) and am wondering if this will give me an ACCURATE response (as my active nearfield monitors do) through passive monitors or if i need to buy more active ones!

"accurate sound" is going to be based on the monitors themselves, not the power amp. Active monitor just means you can mess with the crossovers, whereas passive has that all fixed in place. So just make sure you have quality monitors, active or passive, and you'll be ok.
