hearing protection/monitors

I've noticed live band performers using molded, ear plugs and speculated they were monitor/ hearing protectors. Our band uses plain old ear plugs but they dampen all sound. What kind of molded. ear monitors are best that don't suppress the live sound to much but protect hearing? jim

Yes.

You can purchase ear plugs which will lower the level of the sound by a figure of decibel which respond to how the ear repsond, thus maintaining the necessary frequency response.

Most good aural specialists in your area should have these, you will need to go and have an ear test as they make them custom for the user.
