Condenser Mic

I know the MXL 990 is a popular one at a good price but I don't mind spending the extra $ for an even better condenser mic that you guys would recommend.

I heard the MXL is a bit muddy so I wanna go for something slightly higher end

I already own a shure sm 58
and plug that into my POD XT Live which goes directly into my comp

I use acid pro 6.0 to record.

So any suggestions on a solid condenser mic?

and do all condenser mics require phantom power?

thanks a ton guys!

I highly recommend the Neumann M150, it's a great microphone!

Yes, you will need phantom power.

For a cheap decent one, look at the MAudio Solaris or Luna.

For a great mike for a great price, look into Rode microphones.

Take a look into the Mojave Audio MA-200. Also look at Shure KSM 44, for the warm sounds, or possibly an AKG C-414-XLS. All choices would have clear high end. As a more off brand, look up sE Electronics Mics, maybe the gemini. It's like a Neumann M-147 Knock off... They also have a C-12 knock off, and a U87 Knockoff for quite cheap.

I'm thinking of getting a rode NT1

But my question is, if i do end up purchasing one, at the moment I record my vocals through my pod xt live into my comp using a shure sm 58

would i better off recording future vocals with a rode nt 1? (besides the obvious recording of instruments)

thanks again guys!
