MXL 990 to Computer Interface?

I'm new to the place. And also steadily improving my voice over recording studio, which was started on a very tight budget. I'd done most of my voice recording for internet cartoons using a 25 dollar clip on condenser mic and it worked out fine.

With patience and better times roling around, but still operating on a rather tight budget, I desided to upgrade from the clip on condenser to the MXL990 for beter sound. I also wanted to get a mixer so that I could tweek the subtlties of my voice real time without having to go in an do it in post.

My question is (as I have not yet recieved my new deliveries)...is....

Will the behringer U-CONTROL UCA202 USB-Audio Interface which I simply plug into the open USB port on the computer be the bridge between the MXL 990 mic to the computer, as I do not think the MXL 990 has a direct USB connector. Do I need to get something like the "Behringer U-CONTROL UCA202 USB-Audio Interface"?

Thanks in advance for you help,

Michael Gentry

You will need additional equipment if you just got that USB to Audio Interface and MXL 990 Mic. In order to maintain a the tight budget, I'd recommend the following:

1 Behringer Eurorack UB502 Audio Mixer with Phantom Power $50 USD
1 10' ProCo XLR Mic Cable $15 USD
1 5' Stereo RCA Cable $2 USD

That will cover everything you need, and get you on your way. If you don't have it, I'd also recommend a K&M Mic Stand with a boom for $65 USD
