Solo Hardware Setup
I want to setup a very small low key pc recording setup at home. I am a solo acoustic artist so i only need to record one live track at a time. This is what i was thinking of using
PC - Pentium 4 3.0G
- 512mb ram
- 100G HD
Hardware - Behringer UB802
- Behringer FCA202 firewire interface
Haven't decided on mic and monitors yet. I'll be using Cubase to multitrack and FL studio 6 for sequencing ie. drum tracks
Can anyone give me any pointers on whether this will be an ok setup

As far as the specs on the PC, the HD may be a little small, but it appears that everything else should be ok... but, I'm not totally familiar with the requirements of Cubase, so you may want to look into that before running this setup. The Behringer UB802 appears to have mic pre-amps, so you should be able to pick up stuff in the mics, but does that board have per-channel outputs or inserts? In order to run from the board to the interface you will need a per channel output or insert. As long as your hardware meets those requirements you should be good to go. Again, I'm new to this so get some opinions from the experts in here before going through with it. _________________ Bob Seifert, SEIT

Thanks.
What would be the best way to find out if the mixer has per channel in/outs.

Either on the back of the board there will be a 1/4" socket that says output or right below the 1/4" and XLR inputs on the top of the board there will be a 1/4" socket that says output or insert. If it says output then those are the per channel outputs, you should have the same number of inputs/outputs. If it says insert, what you would have to do is go to your local music store and get an insert to output adaptor, we spent about $30 and got 6 of them which we ended up not needing as we bought a dedicated pre-amp. But if you have inserts you can get the adaptors or if you have outputs you just run from the output to the interface and you should be set to go. If you need anything else give me a shout via PM or post. Happy tracking! _________________ Bob Seifert, SEIT
