There is this thing that comes with Cubase called a Manual, it is this little thing with paper inside of it with letters typed on it. Read it. icon_smile.gif

article

Bluebear please stop peddling your article.... I am undervaluing the resource but we don't heaps of links continually pointing off site to the same resource from differing threads.

As I stated before, point a user to the original thread and therefore the article eventually.

If you feel that is too much hassle we will host your article here on-site.

Thanks

Crimony - I'm not "peddling" anything.... just trying to provide info...

And I really don't understand the issue, but whatever - it is your site after all.

Peace - I'm out.

thanks

Bluebear I had hoped you'd not take this in an exciteable way, you seem above all that to be honest.

It is clear you mention your link fairly often, and what we are trying to promote here is inter-linked forum reading and not duplicated content and dead forum threads leading off to the same link.

If followed to the extreme anytime anyone mentions "mixing" you'd link your article, and as much value as it gives it does not suit all "mixing" threads and does not really engage debate or much dialogue.

So in this case he asked for specific CUBASE info, and sure mixing too, but he would have been better off pointed into an already existing thread about mixing and which eventually runs to your link.

Coupled with this in order for us to attract more useful forum users we need good rankings, and having your link duplicated a lot does not produce that.

So thanks for listening and please don't take it personally you have much to contribute, I did ask you once privately first.

Cheers

In defense of Bluebear this question is a very general question on mixing and not specific to Cubase. The article is just a summary of techniques that he recommends, re-typing this information each time a question like this arises can get very tiresome. If some people searched the forum for answers rather than asking the same question over and over there may not be a need to repost the same link multiple times.

To answer the questions presented:

1) i used to record all voices using acid pro b4.0 but i want to mix and mastering it using cubase sx..how?

This is far too general of a question IMHO. What type of music is it? How many tracks? It's akin to saying I have some bricks and mortar, how do I build a house?

2) There are 3 types of EQ in acid pro b4.0 (if i'm not mstaken..), how to use all of them n to get the best result in voice mixing?

There are no magic settings to instantly turn a track into a finished product. What are you trying to fix by using EQ? What does the track(s) sound like? What instrument is it? Maybe it would be better to use no EQ at all?

3) Mixing..is it a must to mix a song in 5.1 ?

Only if you are going to release it in a 5.1 format.

4) What is the actual techniques of mixing? can i mix all the instrumental first, then save in in audio format (e.g in wav format), and then i mix all the voices with the new instrumental wav format?

That's one of probably 1,000 ways, but personally I would mix everything together to stereo. What is the advantage in the approach above?

5) in mastering technique (using cubase sx@acid pro b4.0), how to increase the volume of the whole songs to make it sounds good whenever played in different medium (eg computer, car audio system) ?

Limiting and compression are the main ways to bring up volume. Doesn't necessarily make it sound good on all systems though. Very dependent on the type of song.

6) While mixing how to make every instruments in a song can be heard?
where n how to put the main vocal to ensure it's clearly heard?

EQ, level, delays, position both left/right and front/back. Again this question could take a book to answer (actually several books have been written on the topic). There is also a very good article from Bluebear that may help get you started.
