Recording electric guitar with microphone

i use a microphone and record the sound coming out of my amp (marshalk MG 50 dFx) and then connect the microphone to my alesis multimix 8ub which then goes into my computer, i do this for better sound which it gives me, the only problem is when i play a note on the guitar and then stop the note a sound of the note quietly carrys on a bit like an echo, does anyone have any ideas of how to get rid of it, thankyou icon_biggrin.gif

Wrong forum is not so bad, but cross posting is! (Just a little heads up of forum etiquette)

dont.

my advice: dont use an MG50. marshall's solid state amps wont get you a great tone. what you need to do is put out a bit of extra cash and get the AVT20 or 50. the tube preamp will make all the difference.

Is there a spring-reverb on the amp?

spring reverb

no. one version of the mg50 does have digital fx, but there's no spring reverb. the problem is probably in the room acoustics.

So the sustianing sound only happens when you record, right? You don't notice it while you're playing?
