Stick with the Mackies or Yamaha's for a good midrange mixer. If budget is REAL tight....You can get by with a Behringer board but be warned, some are built worse than others and may not give you the reliability you want. I've had an old Behringer 6 channel board for over 10 years and it still works flawlessly and have heard of guy's with bigger boards having them be DOA right out of the box.
I just added a Soundcraft Ghost as my main FOH position and moved the Yamaha MG32/14fx to Monitor mix leaving the Peavey MDII for recording mixer.
You can spend a couple 100 bucks and go up to 100 thousand plus.
Rock on! _________________ Scott McKinney
