About synthesis....

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum category to post this in, but I am very curious about rap music synthesis. What programs and hardware do top of the line engineers like the engineers that record Ludacris and stuff use for there beats. What hardware, and software. What do they use for the melodies, also?

Makes little difference in terms of style, the tools do not give you a particular sound, you craft that with tools.

Also there are no standards really, you can craft with a heap of stuff.

Use your ears and experiment, and do not become bought into marketing and do not adopt snobbery to gear is my advise.

Hope you enjoy the forums.

Ensoniq EPS/EPS16/ASR10
Emu SP1200
Korg Triton
as far as software, i have heard of people using
Reason
Cubase
FL Studio
Cakewalk
Acid
Logic
Nuendo
Ableton Live
Adobe Audition
i dont know to what extent, or if each one of these are basically the same thing, as i havent had much experience with these programs.
