Em-U 1212M

Hey, I'm getting more and more heavily into recording and am looking to get some opinions from people who know what their doing icon_smile.gif So anyways, My computer has a Em-U 1212M PCI card from creative. It has: IN/OUT- S/PDIF, ADAT, 1/4" L and R trs, MIDI. I run the tapes i/o from a bheringer (cheapest) mixer to the 1/4" i/o on the card and everything works fine. But I want more, I want to be able to have multiple mics going to multiple tracks at the same time. Is there any gear that can help me besides Firewire options? Mixers with adat/spdif i/o's? Can the Adat and Spdif multitrack in this way, and what would I need? The adat I know for sure is optical and I think the spdif is too. I have never used adat or spdif to transmit anything, let alone multiple streams of audio. Any help would be appreciated, thanks
