The only recording experience I have is at home on my ZOOM 8channel Multitrack Digital Recorder. I'm a guitarist/songwriter with a love for music... and now, recording as well. This is a dream of mine that I plan on making true... no matter what it takes (tired of being an MRI Tech.)!
Any tips on a good sound engineering course that can keep up with me (I'm 34 and not getting any younger), so far as soakin' up all the info at a faster pace? I'm pretty intimidated by all of the model #'s and terminology, but I just know that I can get all of this down . Only thing is... I need to do it before I actually get this operation under way (duh). Also, has anyone done this or know of anyone else that has (jumpin' into this with virtually no experience professionally... learning and then makin' it happen)? Any tips or feedback whatsoever, please.

Hi, where abouts are you sistuated? I've got the qualifications and quite a bit of experience and thinking about starting up my own place. Got most of the kit a need, except the actual building. Usually i rent a studio, but this is just milking away the profits. Maybe we could team up?

that is the number one vision you should have in your toolbox. when you start that, if it has to be for real, you have to be for real about it. everything you do is gonna have to relate to your endeavour.

use every aspect of what you hear as a guideline, because recordings are supposed to be realist; therefore, it should be what people hear that you let them hear when you record and put out a record.

i could go on forever, but many other advices from many other people can only help...

as much as you don't want to hear this .. you should goto an audio school and recieve your engineers degree. If you spend all that money to build a professional commerical studio you really should know how to use it .. also knowing what sounds good and what sounds like shit are very important descians when it comes to chooseing your studio equip.. god there's so much you have to know such as acoustic treatments on your control room .. creating an ideal live and dead end, and knowing what monitors you want to use varies how the control room is set up with splayed cielings and walls .. and thats just one instance .. thee are many more that you need to be aware of so you can properly take it all into consideration
