 It is apparent to me

Since coming here it is apparent to me that I know nothing what soever about recording music...which I suspected before coming here. So I would like a suggestion of something that can give me an idea from the beggening, a book perhaps, a website .....

I need info and I can learn, but I need to start at the beggening, and though I have been looking hard as of late, it seems I need some compendium ....so what book would you reccomend? pref one that takes me through the foundations like how to build a setup, what everything does etc.

Huber & Runstein's "Modern Recording Techniques" is an excellent start.
