Am i buing the right stuff?

Hello everyone, I'm starting new and trying to build a home recording studio. I've got a fair amount of money and done a fair amount of research on the gear. What i need is an un-biased opinion on the equipment
(as opposed to adds and sales reps.) that i've planned on buying. Here they are : M audio prokeys 88 MIDI controller, Yamaha motif ES rack, Tascam 2488 mixer, Behringer B2031A monitors, and the little stuff. what do you guys think? icon_confused.gif
Thanks.

Sounds ok, but no microphones or software?

What type of music are you primarily interested in recording?

I thought I had it figured out...

First of all thanks you guys for your time and input. A few things; most of what i compose is going to be Pop & Rock stuff. But I always like to experiment with techno. My inputs are going to be synth (mainly), occasional vocal and one guitar. When i said " little stuff " that was my ignorant way of defining mics and software. If you guys have any recommendations on mics and software, i'm all ears. Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the point of having one of these studio-in-a-box machines to bypass computers? Or do I have it all backwards. And if i'm gonna cough up money on software, midi card, interface, CD-RW, and maybe a external hard drive for extra space, then why do i even need an audio workstation? And I thought I had all this down icon_confused.gif

The argument is basically down to a preferred way of working, there are certainly no rules when it comes to setting up a recording system.

I mentioned software because it allows for a far greater amount of flexibility in terms of manipulation and editing the audio, along with greater potential for upgrades and FREE applications.

If you are not computer literate I wouldn't bother with a computer it may just hinder your desire to record, if you are however, I'd go down the computer road, but it can be a steep learning curve.

Does that help?
