need a hand selecting gear
hi guys, i posted this last night but it seems to have disappeared.
ive been into making hip-hop beats for quite a while now using software such as fruityloops, beatcraft and a few other small packages. ive recently bought an imac g5, and im looking for more of a hardware situation using some sort of beat pad and prolly a midi keyboard, but i really have no clue as to what gear to get.
i was looking along the lines of an akai mpd-16, which seems nice for its price, anyone have any other reccomendations on gear that i might need to get set up? hardware and software.
thanks

well are you only working with Fruity loops and beatcraft? hm...try getting your hands on some better sequencers....such as Reason, Logic...since you said you just got an IMAC....LOGIC would be perfect for you. I'd invest in Logic...and Reason..along with the Reason Refills. Macs are great. You cant go wrong with those 2 proggies....as for the akai mpd-16...that looks like it could be fun to work with..most people i know use the Akai mpc4000..but the price of the MPD-16 is ok. you might want to get like a midi keystation....m-audio has some reasonably priced gear. but remember its ok if you dont spend a lot of money on equipment...as long as you give it your all to master what you have....dont look at what you need to get..work with what you have...master it..then maybe in the future....when u feel ur ready...go for the expensive fun gear.
