I currently Make beats on Fl studio 4/5...I know I know Its corny But i Think im good at it considering my competition...anyway...It has a built in mixer in which i use to mix it down...if im really optimistic i split the tracks and take them to Nuendo 2 or Adobe audition...however what i do that ...i just sit there like whats next...sometimes i think this may not be a suitable program for what im tryig to do...Any one have any suggestions for a program good for Mixing down tracks???

In the home you can use a stereo editor and a series of mastering plug-ins.

Two suitable stereo editors for mastering stereo files are:

Wavelab
Soundforge

The plugins are then typically VST.

I usse sonar 4 Producer Edition myself. Gets the music sounding tight and with your host of effects you may already have you'll be straight. Sound Forge is really good after you have your 2 track mix to spice a up just atad with some eq. 4kHz boost no more than 3db if you're gearing it for radio. Allows it to flow better over the air.

I guess the boosting depends on where it started in the first place

Nuendo is a good mixing tool...You should import each track individually (one for the snare.....one for the kick.....one for the piano....etc...) and than start your mix....

Just be shure that every instruments played sound as good as possible and don't get in the way of any of the others using the Equalizer.

You can than add some life to your mix whit some effects such as reverb, delay; some panning ( Left, right )

When all of this is over Bouce the mix to a stereo interleaves file to have your stereo mix.

However, if you just want to master it, Sound forge can be a good tool.

I like Acid Pro for mixing the individual tracks and Sound Forge for mastering. I know that Acid was made to be used for loop based stuff, but I use it as my main mixdown utility, i actually switched from using ProTools. Sony actually added multitrack recording capabilities to their latest version, but it is still very possible with the old versions if you use an external hard disc recorder. I have mixed down many rock and metal songs on Acid 3! I tell everyone to give it at least a try. It is really straight forward and easy to use. I especially like how easy it is to draw in the tracks, add volume/pan envelopes, and make accurate cuts and artificial punches. It is also works incredibly with Sound Forge.
