Convolution Reverb for free.

Have you all got into convolution reverb yet?
Well, if your taste is Lexicon 480L or PCM91, yet your budget is Microverb, then you could do a lot worse than to go to http://www.knufinke.de/sir/index_en.html
and grab yourself a copy of SIR - a freeware convolution reverb.
Then, pop over to www.noisevault.com or www.echochamber.ch and grab whatever you fancy.

This thing works on Impulse Responses. Special WAV files that emulate both hardware or real spaces and it is as good as the real thing.

There are impulses from all the Lexicon range, TC, Yamaha, Roland, even real concert halls, and it is all yours for the taking.

Check it out now, and see what I mean. You won't be sorry!

emulations of Lexicons

It gets better & better the more you use it too.
There are enormous amounts of great impulses to be had for the trouble of downloading them.

I am into real spaces more than emulations of Lexicons now, although I think the first phase any of us go through with convolution is the boxes, as it is a familiar starting point for us.

Once you get good at it, there is a site www.voxengo.com where you can buy an impulse modeller that will allow you to design your own rooms, and save the impulses to WAV for use in SIR.
It is VERY cheap. There is also a demo version that will give you 3 encodes for free.
As far as the room design goes, you can specify everything. Room sixe, structure, emitters, reflective points, speakers, everything.
Complex but very rewarding if you spend half a day with it examining the possibilities.
