That damn sibilence...
Now that I have some quality equipment, I am running into a few problems. My main one now is sibilence..
What can you do to remove sibilence, yet keep presence? Every time I pull out the overpowering "esses' and "tees", the vocals lose their presence.
What is the *right* way to go around this, without cheating.. (by cheating I mean exciters and other stupid plugins that fix mixing mistakes)
And BlueBear, I read your article many times over, but I need more in depth mixing solutions now.
EDIT: Here is a snippet to listen to hear what I mean... I know it sounds hollow atm, and that is because I was trying to pull out the sibilence.

Sibilance is typically (in my hands) delt with by using a De-Esser.
A de-esser can be a compressor with an EQ unit in the side chain where the sibilant frequencies are boosted in order to compress them more than the wanted signal - thus reducing them. _________________ Recording Studio Suntans
