Full blown school or mentor program

I have a question for those of you in the business. I have been wanting to go to school for recording for some time. But its been hard to give up my job and the decent money that affords me a comfortable life.

I am not sure how I missed getamentor.com before, but this sounds like a good opportunity to keep my job and start out training until I can find gainful employment.

My hesitation about spending the money and time on full blown school is that i already have a BSEE and some informal experience with live sound production. I just want to know about getting a job.

I have been saving up money to buy some equipment and software, but now I am wondering if I should invest inthis mentor program.

If anyone has thoughts about the different paths, please feel free to share them.

Friends

Completely submerse yourself in audio any way that you can, this may involve (typicaly it does) working for free on many occasions.

One idea you may want to persure is education, as though audio educational establishments can get very bad press, one thing education DOES do is expand your network and experience of interacting with people with like minded interests. Getting on with people and creating positive vibes is far more important than any amount of audio wizardy.

So even though the local college may only have a couple PCs with some software, and an old beat up mixing desk, still pop along and see who you meet up with.

Forget short cuts to stardom and big bucks, it doesn't happen.

A mentor may be a good idea, but to be frank you can find a mentor anywhere if you simply make friends with the right people.

You know?
