RMS levels any thoughts

Hey all
I was thinking about RMS Levels and I'm wondereing where the engineers here find the levels to be falling.

Acoustic music versus electric full rock band

Thanks
Jason

RMS levels have obviously been rising through the years. On average I would say that a mastered CD is usually in the -10 dBFS range for most genres, but for many Rock records is in the -6 dBFS range and can be higher.

Just a quick note on this post. If I can get by with it, I only raise the volume to an acceptable level. I believe that it is time to get back to mastering for the musical need and not just for volume. There is nothing worse than getting to a chorus, and having no build up or no where to go. I think that most ME's will agree.
