I recently have been recording an acoustic group (found http://www.myspace.com/thesocialsband and, whilst my guitar sound and microphone positioning have become better, I would like to take a lot of the room off the sound and learn how to just make the guitar sound good!

The song I would like your opinion on is called "All Alone". I recorded the other two up there as well but have become a bit better since then!

The mics I have to use are:

Sennheiser e606
SM57
SM58
AKG C100
Shure PG81 x2
Shure PG101 (I think...its their most basic bass drum mic)

I used the e606 by the bridge, the sm57 pointing into the body of the guitar, the c100 above and a pg81 behind the neck. Ended up removing the 81 from the mix as it picked up too much fret buzz.

I would appreciate everyone or anyones advice on this! If you can suggest anything else for the song, I would greatly appreciate anyone's advice

One trick that I use (and engineers here in Nashville scoff at me for doing it) But if the acc. is electric, I would take the direct & hard pan, then I would use your 57 and point it slightly under the neck (where the neck meets the body). Because of arrival time this creates a perfect (artifical) double.
By the way, the cymbals sound pretty good, but I would like to here more body from the drums, and bass.
I listened to all the tracks. I enjoyed the music. Is this your group?
And just like any professional ME would tell you, all the demos could be improved with professional mastering.
