Help! Creating a mix CD using Cubase SX...

Well I begin with letting you know that I am a bit of a novice with Cubase still, so please don't judge me! Anyway, I am making a mix CD, and I want to do it using tunes I already have on my computer is wav/mp3 format.

I have started by uploading an empty 16 track template, and then use 'import song' and having been doing it that way which seems to work. However, I'm completely stuck on how I can change the tempo of each track, or select part of the track and change the volume (i.e filter out the track subtly before the next begins. Please once again, I am not one to use technical terms, it isn't normally my field but I am so intent on trying to make this work successfully! Any help would be much appreciated,

Kindest regards

Anna

Firstly, for this kind of work you should use an editing program like Wavelab. It is a lot easier to fade tracks in and out in an audio montage.

It is possible to do this work with Cubase (apart from creating the CD) but not advisable..

If you intend on changing the tempo of the tracks to be able to mix them together your going to find it pretty hard using cubase. Nevertheless, if you want to speed up or slow down a track without changing the pitch, right click on the track, go to process, and then time-shift.

To fade the tracks click the little + sign on the channel you want to alter, you should now see an extra 'track' appear below the track in question. Next press the R button (read enable), a line will appear in the track. The line corresponds to the current volume, so to alter the level you need to change the line by double clicking it to insert a point, and moving the line around. Its hard to explain, but if you can get as far as activating the read enable button you should be able to work it out...

Hope that helps..
