Stephen F. Austin State University – Instructor/Assistant Professor of Music (Sound Recording Technology-SRT).
Tenure-track (9-month), Instructor/Assistant Professor of Music, specialization in sound recording technology.
Primary responsibilities include pioneering a newly formed Sound Recording Technology-SRT program, teaching academic and applied courses in recording arts, oversight of recording studio and supervision of student workers in this area as well as recruiting students into the SRT program. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop course curriculum for undergraduate students seeking careers in the application, installation, and operation of analog and digital audio and music recording, reproduction, processing, and reinforcements systems. Professional experience and expertise in the modern recording studio utilizing digital software programs such as Digidesign Pro Tools as well as other professional mainstream audio systems (Digital Performer, Sound Forge, Pyramix, etc.) are essential components of this position. Faculty members are expected to be committed to fulfilling service obligations to the school, college, university and profession, and expected to embrace and maintain the spirit of collegiality that exists in the College of Fine Arts.
Qualifications: A Master of Music or Master of Sound Engineering required. Additionally, preference may be shown to candidates with professional experience in the recording arts. Teaching experience at the college level in the field of music acoustics and/or recording techniques is preferred. Evidence of successful student recruitment and facilities management is highly desirable.
Start Date: January 5, 2009
