been in music a long time, but completely new to MIDI...

and i have a question as to whether or not the sound card I have (it's integrated I believe) will work with an midi compatable keyboard im planning to buy, and the computer software Finale. I want it to be pretty seamless, without a bunch of different cords and what not so I'm just curious if my sound card will work.
here is my pc:

if you need more info just let me know
i greatly appreciate anybody who takes the time to read this !

Hi Pianoguy,

Unless your inbuilt soundcard has midi conenction, which they generally dont, then you wont be able to use midi.

You need a soundcard which allows you to attach the midi in/out cables.

The same can be done by just pure usb nowadays also. You can get "midi" controllers that only use usb cables.

If you are serious about making music on your computer i would advise a decent soundcard (nothing from Creative audio sondblaster range) which will generally have midi ins/outs.

If you need any further help pm me.

Mark
