I might be willing to train someone as a producer/engineer
Here's the deal !!!
I live near Toronto Canada and I rent a studio in Burlington called Heritage Studio's for my clients. Its a full pro-tools setup.
It will cost you - lots. But I will teach you from the ground up. Right from demo's to full production. And if I feel you don't have the right stuff you will be let go.
But if you have the touch and the ear - I will start you out setting up the board, mics, and doing bed tracks. You will be expected to watch the engineer and myself and learn learn learn. Remembering what you learned for next time is mandatory.
You will get credits on projects as production assistant or assistant to the engineer. These do matter for your future bio.
Who knows - I might even grant you a co-producer credit if you are good enough.
This will be approx 6 months. Need more insight - check out my website at www.ranmor.net
I have not produced rap or hiphop yet. Most of my client base is Alt rock, country rock, adult contemporary and even some bluegrass. There will be some techno and dance music.
If you think you wil only work with your preferred genre of music think again. You will learn to be professional even with music you dislike. After all a paying client dictates their genre.
The last trainee was a young man so this time preference will be given to a young lady however if one does not come forward I will consider all.
My e-mail is randy@ranmor.net
Be prepared to be put through the ringer.

Please could you advise on your own qualifications in sound engineering, and, or your experiance to tutor SE. Or perhaps do you have a professional background as an engineer, if this is the case then please advise known artists, projects, or producers that you have worked with. Do you have a Syllabus for your course?
I am sure that candidates would want to know this if it is to "cost them - lot's"

I have a mechanical engineering technologist diploma plus an electrical engineering technician diploma.
I have produced 26 projects just in the last 6 years.
"Cost you lots" means 45 per hour for the studio and 200 a session for me.
The studio engineer and I do have a rough curriculum but we tend to go session by session to allow for variances.
My music resume is on my website, www.ranmor.net
We instruct on a part time basis allowing for day jobs of our clients etc.
You will learn how to listen to and analyse music. At the studio you'll learn basic board work and mixing. And you will learn pro-tools.
When you get to the point that I feel you can produce me or one of my recording artists then you'll get album credits.
But you WILL be a good producer or engineer.

Jesus, that is the worst ad I have ever read. You don't even practice what you preach! You will get ZERO clients until you realize that you're no better at producing than anyone else on here. Producing is a talent which develops over time; if you're passionate about the creativity behind music-you'll eventually become a decent producer. I can't teach that to anybody; it's something that is already in you and it just defines itself over time until you have 'it'-then all of your hard work begins to make sense. Obviously, you aren't making a career out of it-charging rediculous amounts like that to 'teach' producing. The reason you instruct on a part-time basis is because you have a day job-just like most of us on here. And dude-'techno' is fuckin' DEAD...

uhhhh...has anyone checked out this guys website? Go to the "resume"page. His pic looks like it was torn in half to remove some former lover he didnt want in the pic. If he's not professional enough to post a good pic of himself, why would we pay him that much for anything? Plus, his "discography" is a bunch of demo e.p.s for local bands. Give me a break! And, why does he prefer a female? His last intern was a male? Creepy...

I think if anybody plans on paying money to learn it should be to a university or other tech college and then get an internship at a studio thats affiliated with the school that way its valid and you also get credit for it. Don't toss money to people who are independant workers and no affiliation within the industry.
