Can anyone help me with a microphone issue? (For music)
I have this mic http://www.aandcaudio.co.uk/Audio-Technica-ATR30-Microphone-pid995.htm
I went to radioshack and showed them what I had and I asked them what I would need to use it on my pc.
They gave me a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter. So I go home and I plug the mic into the adapter (fits well) and into the mic slot. But when I try recording a sample on adobe audition or audacity I don't hear any sound from the mic. I made sure my microphone port wasn't muted, and I know for sure because my 2 dollar mic that came with my pc works. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
By the way under the "default device" section under sound playback and sound recording it says "Realtek AC97 Audio" if that helps any.

Double click on the "speaker" icon on your tray app's. (lower right corner)
Open the mixer portion and make sure "microphone " input is not muted and is turned up.
Check advanced settings and make sure that the "recording" section say's "Realtech" as well. _________________ Scott McKinney

No sound at all? Not even a really weak one?
Is the 1/4"-1/8" adapter made for mono or stereo?
If the plug is separated into three sections, you may have the wrong one. If this is the case, try plugging in the jack only half-way and see if you get any signal at all.

Are you sure that there is ABSOLUTELY no sound? Are you sure that you plugged it in correctly or that your mic volume just isn't turned down?
