 Reccommended gear?

Hi folks,
I have a Rode NTK and am running logic Pro. I bought a FA-66 through a Spirit FX8 desk but am not really happy with the sound I'm recording. I think I need to upgrade, lose the desk and get a better audio interface with more in/outs and a pre-amp.

Does anyone have any suggestions for gear? I was recommended the above in a music shop so am a bit weary of buying more stuff thatt's not that great!

I think I just need a simple pre-amp with plenty of presets (that you can turn phantom power off), a friend recommended focusrtite mid-range? Any model in particular?

All thoughts appreciated.
