M Audio Audophile 2496 problem

wassup guys! someone please help me to fix this problem..i have an intel core 2 duo e6300 processor with 1 gig of ram..Asus P5-BVM motherboard..an M Audio audiophile 2496 card...got this pc abt a year back..good performance...until when i had some viruses come into the system..so i formatted the c drive and re-installed windows...the audiophile was working fine with the latest drivers until the re-install...but now when i tried installing it..its gives me a very bad glitch when i play songs...i did play around with latency settings..nothing seems to work..tried settings in the BIOS too..nothing worked..i dont think it mit be the cards fault cause..the glitch levels vary when i try playing songs of Nuendo(least)...windows media player(most)...and winamp..i tried re installing windows too..nothing that i tried seemed to solve this problem...pls help me with this icon_cry.gif

Stupid Windows

Weird because whenever I've had to re-install Windows, I tend to get crappier performance on various things too. I've had some software that just simply won't work anymore. All I can say to try is uninstalling the audio hardware completely again and re-install that with the drivers that came with it on CD-ROM.

hi there all,
ananth, i too have a 2496 with glitches, different levels and sometimes like a half second of light static sound. Are you triggering midi ?? or do you get this when you play audio files ? or both? I get it triggering midi. my box is an ASUS A8V-MX 64 ,ATHLON 3200+, 1gig RAM and i have no other PCI devices besides the 2496. I have used both the package drivers and latest download with identical results.

I am triggering softsynths and external gear using a software midi sequencer, I have found definate limits to the amount of softsynths i can trigger at once, I have dramatically reduced the effect to near 0 by recording the synths separately during mixdown, not a great solution i know icon_razz.gif , thus i suspect a latency issue, however, if i use say four standalone less powerful softsynths like Native Instruments FM7s, it sounds fine, but use somthing like one Absynth2 and 3 FM7s , then it starts to glytch.
I have downloaded the SDK for the card hoping to code a midi diagnostic tool but i cant see a lot of midi support in it.
I would like to note that i could achieve 4 softsynths with a Soundblaster Live Value card at only slightly higher latancies. however,
if you have had your card work fine one moment and not work the next due only to a windows reinstall, and not due to using gruntier or more midi devices, then i would say your problem is configuration of either windows audio, ASIO if midi, or somthing chewing your CPU in the background(like running windows services) . If it worked once, short of hardware failiure(and you said u tried it on friends PC), then it should work again if setup the same way.
