First Recording with new setup (And I'm an amateur)

Hey all, I have my first recordings with my lovely MKH 20s. I tried my best this first time on the mix (positioning, levels, etc) and I'd like any opinions on the sound or any suggestions with the mix or technique.

The sample song is of the local high school band and is in the environment that I will be recording in most often.

Please note that the MP3 is pre mastering; no equalization, limiting, leveling, etc. was performed.

Didn't anyone tell you not to host at geocities?

That should work; I'm hosting it on my computer.

Any opinions? After months of listening myself, I think that the percussion/trumpets (instruments against the distant shell wall) sound washy and distant... there could be a little more reverb... and the woodwinds (closest to the front) are too loud and colored.

As for mastering... a little compression and a mild EQ should help. ... Right?

Sounds pretty good. With some more experience, you'll find the best way to place the mics so everything is balanced.

Another concert.

This one is of the same group in the same environment, but with a different mixing console. I did what mastering I could do in a short time with this piece.

As far as the recording goes... do you think it sounds better than the last one?

Any EQ/mastering tips are welcome.
