Buying a soundcard
Hi everybody,
I am a noob in the world of digital recording and I was wondering if ya'll could help me out.
Im looking to buy a new soundcard for my computer to start recording through Cubase SX3 with.
I've been doing alot of research and concluded the X-fi platinum w/ I/o box (1 input/2 female midi) soundcard might be a good choice.
The only problem here is that I'm wanting to do simultaneous recordings (2 - 4) tracks. This got me looking at the m-audio delta 44.
Can ya'll give me some advice as to what I should buy???
Im trying to stay in the range of $180 or less...while still getting a good soundcard thats going to satisfy my needs (ie - electric guitar recording, vocals, possibly drums, and a Casio keyboard with midi out).
Which card is going to be the better choice as far as quality goes???
Are there some other brands out there that would be better???
here are my computer specs if needed.
pentium 4 processor
140 gig drive
dvd/cd burner
2.0 hrtz
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Can not go wrong with the Delta. Plus you can daisy chain them, so later you might want to get a 1010, and still use the 44 with it. I would save a touch more and go with the 66 though, that way you can have 4 out channels to mix down with. A lot more fun IMO.

I agree with RhoneRanger. I use a m-audio delta 10/10lt with cubase sx 3 and have had no problems. I had a creative soundcard before and had lots a problems between it and cubase. You can probably find a delta for the same price or cheaper than the creative sound card. You should also know that delta series cards WILL NOT WORK with windows vista, M-audio claims to be developing drivers for vista right now.
